Review: For Freaks Only - Justin "Amen" Floyd

Justin “Amen” Floyd invites you into the world of Deneice “Neicy” Washington, a College Administrative Representative by day and a certified freak at night. If you remember the 80’s song, Brick House by The Commodores then you will have a visual picture of Niecy. If you aren’t familiar with the song, Brick House – Check YouTube or Google It.

I made the mistake of reading this novella on my lunch break. Every paragraph I read I looked around to see if anyone noticed the steam that was coming from my eyes.

This novella is HOT & STEAMY!!

In the beginning of this book the Author writes an introduction to his readers that’s appropriately titled, Verbal Intercourse. After reading the introduction I almost emailed Mr. Floyd to let him know I’m a married woman.

For Freaks Only definitely lives up to the title. If you want to experience a “Literary” quickie – buy this novella.

I can’t wait for Part 2….

REVIEW

Grab a Comfortable Chair & Be Prepared to stay in that position until you are finished reading this book. This Ex-Wife can serve as a cautionary tale of getting to know someone before becoming involved in a relationship. As we know in life certain things aren't so cut & dry, and sometimes we can't say NO to what the HEART wants.

Be warned if you choose to take that path you will have to deal with whatever comes your way. Like it or Not!

This book was full of twists - just when you think the book is heading one direction the Author switches gears and takes you in another direction. I love reading books like this, because there's never a dull moment. The plot will definitely keep you guessing.

Author Candice Dow has created unforgettable characters that will have you talking long after you have read the book. My favorite character in the book was Yasmin aka The Ex-Wife. I didn't know if I should laugh with or scream at her. Every time she showed up in the book I knew I had to brace myself.

Author Candice Dow has landed on my Authors to Watch List.

I highly recommend this book. Trust Me! You will not be disappointed!

Author Candice Dow

Orsayor: What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author?

Candice: When I gave the first draft of Tappin On Thirty to my agent, she called suggested I rewrite the entire book because it was boring. I started from scratch and was so happy that I did because the final draft turned out to be one my favorite works.

Orsayor: If you could meet any of your own characters, who would it be?

Candice: It would be Devin Patterson. He was a main character in Caught in the Mix, Tappin on Thirty, and Feelin the Vibe. He's suave, intelligent, and attractive, yet complex and complicated.

Orsayor: What message would you give to readers that have never read a Candice Dow book?

Candice: If you like to read drama, suspense, romance and exploring the  dynamics of how people in all types of relationships connect and disconnect, then you'd love a Candice Dow novel.

Orsayor: Choose a book title for the story of your life.

Candice: No Stone Unturned

Review: Hooked Up At The Wedding - Emma Lai, Sandra Sookoo & Marie Tuhart

The secret fantasy, hooking up with someone, no strings attached, then walking away. Has the best man, caterer or another guest at a wedding caught your eye and triggered the “what if” question? In a situation where love, romance and sex abound, three authors present six short stories about just that.

The Final Dance by Emma Lai

Ashley Beaufort’s duties as maid of honor take her back to the ballroom after all the guests have left, but the bride’s shoes aren’t the only things waiting for her, and she gets the chance to live out a fantasy with a her favorite country-western singer.

Buttercreamed by Sandra Sookoo

Kyle Morrison is a cocky cake decorator with an ego to match his talent. If there’s one thing he likes more than seeing a bridal couple enjoying his creations, it’s hooking up with a willing woman at a wedding.

When he’s propositioned by Paige, who’s also a fan of his work, how can he resist such a sweet challenge? Sex in a work room is more than icing on the cake.

Unexpected Gift by Marie Tuhart

Most men can't handle Sabrina Orin’s job as a doctor since the hours can be 24/7, but she still has needs. What better way to satisfy them than to hook up with a hot guest at a wedding?

Ryan Caine never expected to find a woman at the wedding he’d want to hook up with, and when Sabrina agrees to go to his room with him, he finds he doesn't want to let her go, but she's gone when he wakes in the morning. What’s a man to do?

Letting Memories Go by Emma Lai

After seeing John Cabot, her first love, over spring break, Liza Chambers realizes she needs to let some memories go before she can move forward. She seizes the opportunity at his sister’s wedding to put the past behind her. Will her actions rekindle their old flame, or only create more bittersweet memories?

Proper Women Don’t by Sandra Sookoo

Delia Latham’s back in Savannah for a friend’s wedding. Though she’s moved away from the life of tradition and snobbery, she’s always needed to tell her old beau—Chase—goodbye.

When Chase and his friend Jarod catch Delia unawares while she’s skinny dipping late at night, how can she refuse when he suggests a three-way hook-up? Proper women don’t do such things. Good thing she’s not one of them.

Unexpected Surprise by Marie Tuhart

Eric Montgomery has had the hots for his best friend’s fiancee’s maid of honor for months. When he finds her in his hotel room and his bed, he thinks the gods are granting him a gift.

Close proximity to the sexy best man has left Marina Landers desperate for release, and when Eric appears in her hotel bedroom, she seizes the opportunity to find out if the rumors about his domineering ways are true.

They have a wild night of kinky sex, both thinking when morning arrives, they'll go their separate ways, but things don't go quite as planned.

REVIEW:

Hooked Up At the Wedding are some of the best erotic stories I have read in a long time! Each and every one of these authors did a fantastic job; all of the characters were very likable and well rounded.
The authors definitely made you feel like you were right there in the midst of the action. The plots really kept me interested and wanting more, and gave you an idea of what really goes on at a wedding behind the scenes.
This book most definitely gets 5 out of 5 stars from me

Virtual Book Blog Tour: Welfare Grind - Kendall Banks

Kendall Banks, Executive Assistant by day, bartender by night is the proud author of Rich Girls, One Night Stand, Another One Stand and The Welfare Grind Series. She originally hails from both Georgia and North Carolina and presently resides in Washington, D.C. Her long time goal was to produce movies, however after writing her first movie script and failing, she turned it into a manuscript and submitted it to LCB. Ironically, after the success of One Night Stand the novel, an independent studio picked up the project and is now in pre-production. Kendall enjoys the success of her hard work but participates in community service activities often.

Get to Know Kendall:

1. Introduce us to your book and the main characters. What makes each one special? Do you have any favorites?

Welfare Grind starts off with an explosive scene that shows Keema, the main character not taking ownership of something that has the authorities at her front door. When her kids are taken away from her this starts a downward spiral for tons of tricks and scams that Keema pulls off to get them back…all in the name of  getting those Welfare Benefits. The money is good..REAL good and she can’t stand the thought of not collecting the funds.  Keema’s character is very authentic and has readers wanting to choke her!

Treasure is Keema’s daughter who subliminally acts just like her mother. At ten years old she’s had to grow up all too soon becoming an apprentice in their project based home. Treasure is quick, witty and extremely intuitive. Unfortunately for Keema, karma may come from her own child. They say- the apple never falls far from the tree.

2. Which character or topic in the book can you identify with the most? Why?

I can mostly identify with the ten year old character, Treasure. Forced to grow up without a father and ultimately be responsible for her younger brother’s well-being, Treasure often takes the ‘mother role’ and is allowed to use her own judgment to solve problems at such a young age.
I myself was one of those kids who didn’t have a relationship with my father, so I knew this was a subject that a lot of readers could relate to.

3.  Is this the book you intended on writing or did it take on a life of its own as you were writing? How do you stay focused?

It definitely took on a life of its own because the character, Keema became so dramatic and entertaining after the first chapter. She became far more dimensional that I ever imagined and has several variations. She became so exciting, and so absorbing, I couldn’t stop writing. Even with her flaws, the readers seem to love her.

4.  Ultimately, what do you want readers to gain from your book?

I want readers to walk away with the understanding that being on the system is a choice and getting off is a lifestyle change. It’s easy to get complacent when you’re getting income to live with little effort. The money may seem good on the surface, but is it really self gratifying and what message does it send to your children? For those who really need it, I’m hoping they use it to help them get on their feet then get off of it.

5.  We are here to shine the spotlight on your new book, but what’s next?  Share with us your latest news, awards or upcoming book releases. How may our readers follow you online?

My next project is the third part to Welfare Grind. Readers everywhere are talking about parts 1 and 2 (Still Grindin’) of this Series. This book is going to explore the aftermath of Keema’s decisions and what effects they had on Treasure.

Virtual Book Tour: The Knife In My Back - Stacey Covington-Lee

Synopsis

Brook Mansfield was born into a life of privilege. She had a family that loved her and all of the advantages that came from being rich, smart and beautiful. She also had friends, one of which was Tameka Williams.
Tameka was a desperate woman looking to gain fortune, fame and love at any cost. Despite the warnings from others, Brook took Tameka in and tried to love her as a sister. However, after taking the one thing that meant the most to Brook, it was time for the tables to turn. Tameka had used and betrayed her for the last time.

Excerpt

Wayne held Tameka while she sobbed. He was so confused as to how to handle or comfort her. He had never seen someone so obsessed with someone else’s life. He could not understand why she couldn’t be happy with the life that she had made for herself. Couldn’t understand why she couldn’t be happy with the life that they could build together. And as he held her, Tameka came to the realization that he didn’t know and would never understand her. She would never be able to get him to see things from her point of view. So she decided to dry up and let him believe that he helped her feel better and that her little tantrum was over. She would keep her feelings to herself from now own.
“Tameka, I promise you that together we will make a great life for ourselves. We will have our own family and a beautiful home. You’ll be proud of the life we make together. I promise.”
“I know, baby, I guess I just had to get all of this off of my chest. Jealousy is an ugly thing and I hate that I let it do this to me,” Tameka said with an ugly smirk on her face.
She didn’t mean a word of what she was saying and Wayne should have realized that. But instead he chose to believe what made him feel better about his beloved, Tameka. He would learn soon to see her for what she was and not the woman he wanted her to be. But for now, he held her in his arms and held on to the dream that he had of the wonderful life he wanted them to share.

About the Author

Stacey Covington-Lee is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She has written multiple manuals and training guides for various companies and local government. However, it was her love for literature that led her to pin her first novel in 2009. Since that time, Stacey has written several short stories and two additional novels. Her first published novel, The Knife in My Back, was re-released by Delphine Publications November 2012.
Stacey continues to live in an Atlanta suburb with her family and is currently working on her next novel. Visit her at www.staceycovingtonlee.com for a full chapter excerpt of The Knife In My Back and a sneak peek at her second novel, The First Cut Is The Deepest.

Get to Know Stacey:

Q. How old were you when you first started writing and what motivated you?

A. I was around eleven years old when I read a book by Judy Blume called Are You There God? It’s Me Margret. Something about that book lit a spark in me and set me on a journey to write my own pre-teen novel.

Q. What inspires your writing?

A. I am inspired by the people around me. I love watching how folks interact with one another , how they speak to each other and what angers them or brings them joy.

Q. Your novel, The Knife In My Back, primarily focuses on the relationships between female friends, why is that?

A. There are numerous books that discuss the male/female relationship. However, the relationship between girlfriends can be so complex and at time so difficult that I felt it deserved to be highlighted.

Q. Does the book primarily focus on the negative aspects of friendship?

A. While the relationship between characters Tameka and Brook is a very volatile one and dominates the storyline, there is also the loving and supportive friendship between Mia and Brook and it celebrates the kind of friendship we all long for.

Q. Was any part of this book based on real life experiences?

B. I think that we have all had to deal with a troubled friendship at some point in time, but fortunately I’ve not had a female in my life that has presented me with the evil and deceptive ways that Tameka possess.

Q. Would men also find your novel interesting or do you think they would view it as a “chick novel?”

A. Men would absolutely find the novel entertaining. It’s a great story with wonderful male characters. The men in this book are strong, successful men that support and love their women. There’s no male bashing here, but plenty of lust, love and drama.

Q. Can we expect to read more from you in the near future?

A. Yes, you can look for my next novel, The First Cut Is The Deepest, to hit bookshelves early 2013. It is the follow up to The Knife In My Back and begs the question, are some people beyond redemption?

Review: The Eleventh Commandment - Lutishia Lovely

She’s Back….

That’s Right... Ladies  & Gentlemen

Lutishia Lovely is back with her 8th Installment in the Hallelujah Love Series...

THE ELEVENTH COMMANDMENT

What’s the Eleventh Commandment? – You have to buy the book! I can’t tell you everything… but what I can tell you is…

You won’t be able to put this book down once you start reading it.

This book starts off with a bang by introducing readers to Frieda Livingston, who’s married to Gabriel Livingston, a very successful doctor who spends most of his time at work instead of being home with his wife & son, Gabe Jr. Frieda is a very feisty woman that doesn’t believe in following the rules, so she occupies her free time with her lover, Clark. Will her dirty secrets be exposed?

Hope & Cy – Hope (Frieda’s cousin) is leading a picture perfect life with her husband & their two kids. Their marriage is tested when Cy’s first love returns on the scene. Cy’s unresolved feelings for his first love threatens to change their life forever.

Stacy & Tony – After years of playing in the NFL, Tony’s career has taken a nosedive. The stress from Tony trying to recapture his success begins to cause trouble in his marriage to Stacy. Stacy turns to her son’s father, Darius for help, but will this cause more harm to their fragile marriage?

Darius (Stacy’s ex) and his husband, Bo are dealing with troubles of their own. Darius is a R&B singer who’s flirting with danger by the name of Paz Demopoulos. Paz is a famous actor that’s used to getting what he wants, and refuses to take No for an answer when it comes to getting Darius in his bed. Will Darius be willing to give up everything to take a chance on temptation?

The Eleventh Commandment has a believable storyline that flows smoothly throughout the book. It amazes me how Lutishia Lovely is able to tackle so many characters in this book, and give each one of them their own unique voice.

I highly recommend this book.
