Review: Ghetto Fantasy - Galvis Ardoin

REVIEW

Ghetto Fantasy is one of those books that keeps you thinking long after turn the last page. Ja'Quan didn't have a normal childhood, but he had an uncle that took on the role as his father and showed him the love he deserved.

Tragedy strikes and Ja'Quan is left with a hole in his heart and a need to prove himself. I was instantly drawn into this story and felt every emotion the author was trying to convey. It's not too often that a story leaves a lasting impression on your heart after reading. Ja'Quan's character was very realistic and gave the impression of trying to be a good man and follow in the footsteps of his uncle. He makes the best of a bad situation, even when situations have you lost in the shuffle.

This is a book that I will read again and recommend it to anyone looking for a heartfelt read that leads up to an exciting conclusion.

Review: One More Dance - Valentine Cardinale

REVIEW

This was just an okay read for me. I liked the premise of the story but felt it was lacking in a lot of ways. First of all, this is a very short read, usually that doesn't bother me but in this case it did. The story seemed very rushed to me, like the author didn't want to spend too much time on any one person or idea, which was frustrating to me. I guess the story itself would have been better if more time was spent with the characters. It was just very hard to stay focused, once you start to get interested in what's happening you're on to the next thing.

I also thought it was strange that the main character was supposed to be concerned over what happened to his son, yet he was so fixated on meeting up with this mystery woman again. It just seemed very unrealistic and callous to me.

I would have to say this wasn't a good fit for me.  I gave this book 2 stars.

Review: The Grace of Crows - Tracy Shawn

REVIEW

This book was amazing in so many ways. I didn't think I was going to like this book at first because it seemed to drag in the beginning, but as I got further into the story, I was immediately won over. This is one of those rare novels that illicit every emotion you have available through this author's amazing writing skills you are taken on a journey you'll never forget. You will be screaming and crying and loving every minute.

Saylor's character goes through so much, and I could easily really relate to the emotional aspects of what she was feeling. Sometimes your family will be the first people to bring you down, and your friends will be the ones to build you back up. The things Saylor has to deal with are true to life and could happen to anyone.

This is a story about one woman's desire to overcome her debilitating fears and how she gains strength and courage from helping a friend along the way. If you're looking for an emotional, and inspiring read. I recommend this book.

Review: Stillwell - Michael Phillip Cash

REVIEW

This was the second novel I have read by author Michael Phillip Cash, the first being Brood X. One thing I can say about this author is that he really knows how to draw you into his stories.

With Stillwell, you get a love-story wrapped up in a family tragedy that snowballs into a paranormal event. What I loved about this story was that it had so many layers to it. You start off with a very loving and devoted husband(Paul) trying to cope with his grief over the loss of his wife(Allison) to brain cancer. Before this, Paul had taken a leave of absence from where he worked as a salesman to take care of his wife as she went through treatments. Paul starts to become deeper and deeper in debt and chooses to go back to work. A friend has a house their trying to sell, that is rumored to be haunted and was the site of two horrible accidents, but Paul takes on the challenge of trying to get it sold anyway. This is where things start to become strange.

I don't want to give too much away so you will have to read to find out all the exciting details and how the story unfolds!! This author really knows how to pull a story together. The ending was very unexpected and didn't go where I thought it would. This book was extremely thought-provoking and interesting. I would recommend to anyone looking for an exciting read!!!

Review: Dead End II - J. Anthony Graves

REVIEW

Another great read from J. Anthony Graves!!! After reading book one (DEAD END) I was blown away, book two (DEAD END II Pierre's Story) was no different. This was a great addition to part one. With this book, you get an in-depth look into Pierre's past and what factors led to him becoming the man that he was in book one.

I love Mr. Graves writing style. His writing that makes you invest in the lives and happiness of the characters. When something horrible happens in the story, you can feel the depth of the character's pain. I loved the overall feel of this book. It starts off slow and builds up and by the end, you are blown away!

I highly recommend Dead End I & II. You will not be disappointed.
