REVIEW

Let me take a deep breath…

Growing up the conversation about the bird and bees went this way…

Mom: Sex! Don’t do it. If I find out you are having sex I will whip your a**
Me: Ok

Sex is never an easy topic to talk to with your kids. I think parents should give their kids an uncensored lesson to sex, because if you let the world teach them the results may not be pretty. I thought I was prepared when I started reading Sex: A Book for Teens for review.

Hold My Mule…

This book is as uncensored as they come. The book addresses many topics such as sexual orientations, safe sex, masturbation, STDs, and much more. This is a very informative book mixed with humor (to lighten the mood in some parts). I would advise parents to read this book first before sharing the information with their kids. Then discuss the contents of this book with them.

There is some strong content in this book, but it’s needed in today’s culture.

Review: Assertiveness for Earth Angels - Doreen Virtue

Do people take advantage of your niceness? In this groundbreaking book, Doreen Virtue teaches Earth Angels —extremely sweet people who care more about others’ happiness than their own—how to maintain their inner peace and loving nature while at the same time holding boundaries. You’ll discover how to overcome fears about saying no, and how to ask for what you want from those around you and from the universe.

Assertiveness for Earth Angels is for anyone who wants to learn the art of speaking up in relationships and in their activism about issues related to the world. Whether you need more assertiveness with your family, on the job, or in your healing work, you’ll appreciate Doreen’s gentle-but-firm approach to negotiating your earthly needs in heavenly ways!

REVIEW

Doreen Virtue has been a part of my life for years from her Angel cards, books, and videos. This is my favorite book by Doreen Virtue so far. I read this book in a few hours. It covered so many subjects near and dear to my heart. I know this is a book everyone can relate to on some level. I highlighted so many parts of this book that my book began to look like a Christmas tree.

The information in this book is very organized and straight to the point. This book is very inspirational and heartfelt. It felt as though Doreen was in my room with me coaching me along the way. If you are familiar with Doreen Virtue, then you can relate when I say she has a very calming effect.

I highly recommend this book to everyone.

If you are having a hard time telling people... no - then this is the book for you.
If you feel people take your kindness for weakness - then this is the book for you.

Review: The Healing Power of Reiki - Raven Keyes

REVIEW

Reiki came into my life like a whisper...

Explaining Reiki to people I know has been an experience, but I have realized there will be some people that get it and there will be some people that won't. Reiki has truly been a blessing to my life. I have learned to look at things from a different perspective. I have learned to "see" the beauty in all things/experiences. As a third-degree Reiki Master, it's definitely fulfilling to live & learn Reiki.

I have read a lot of Reiki books that dealt with techniques and symbols. The Healing of Reiki - Raven Keyes covers Reiki from a personal level. I love the fact that the Foreword was written by Mehmet C. Oz, M.D. (Dr. Oz), because a lot of people think Reiki is an underground practice. Reiki is embraced by millions. Author Keyes shares her personal stories with Reiki. She has helped 9/11 victims, athletes, and trauma patients.

The meditations in the book are very helpful.

After reading this book, I feel more comfortable sharing this gift with others.

Review: Monster, Be Good - Natalie Marshall

REVIEW

This was a cute little short book by Natalie Marshall.  I read it first and then shared it with my children to see if they enjoyed it as well.  It is a book that can be easily read by a child to a parent telling the reader to not be scared of the monsters.  I liked how she assured the young reader that they were safe and in charge of the monsters.  I will look for other books by Author Marshall for me and my children to enjoy and recommend to others.

Review: Girls Against Girls - Bonnie Burton

Language: English

REVIEW

Girls Against Girl: Why We Are Mean To Each Other And How We Can Change asks the age-old question, that no one seems to have the answer to? Let me scratch that - I think we all have an idea why girls are against other girls, but what do we with that information. Do we use the information to build each other up or do we continue to tear each other down?

Girls Against Girls is broke down in 6 sections (theories)

1. Why we hurt each other
2. Methods of our Meanness
3. Bearing the Brunt of it
4. Calling in Reinforcements
5. Stopping the Cycle
6. Teaming Up instead of Tearing each other down

Author Bonnie Burton offers tips & scenarios for each section. There are quotes from movies, female singers, and athletes. This is very informative for teens and parents. I like that the Author didn't come across as preachy and knowing all the answers. As a teen, I remember dealing with so much in grade school & high school I wish I had a book like this.
