Misconceptions - C. Hayes

After her parent’s divorce, Gabrielle is sent to live with her dad in a one bedroom apartment and that’s where she starts acting out. She begins staying out late, sneaking boys in the apartment when her dad isn’t home, getting tattoos, and piercings. Her sister, Dee went to live with her mom, but they kept a close relationship through it all. All of her wild ways seem to come to an end when she met Tre’ Johnson. Tre’ Johnson works as a general manager of a local mortgage company, single, and no kids which seem like a perfect match for Gabrielle. Gabrielle soon finds out what glitters isn’t always gold.

After reading this book the first thing that came to my mind was a quote from Maya Angelou - "The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them." As much as I wanted to scream or shake the hell out of some these characters, I was sadly reminded that incidents like this goes on every day. I could definitely relate to this story, because I have been in a few situations like this or knew people that have went through it. Sometimes we chose to ignore that silent alarm that goes off warning of us impending heartbreak, but no matter what there is always a lesson in our suffering.

There were a few typos and grammatical errors in this book, but it didn’t affect the flow of the story. I would definitely recommend this book for young adults and adults as well. Maybe reading this book will save a few young adults from making some unnecessary mistakes.

4 out 5 Stars

In The Spotlight: Dean Jéan-Pierre

Orsayor: How would others describe you?
Dean: I suppose most of my friends would say I’m laid-back, usually in deep thought, quick with a smart ass comment but not mean-spirited.

Orsayor: How did you come up with your book titles?
Dean: Titles and the book cover has to pull the reader in, so with that said, I try to find words that will stimulate thought and make you want to open my book to read more. I think we succeeded with The Pussy Whispers and Woman Worship so far.
Orsayor: What book are you reading now?
Dean: Unaccustomed Earth, Life After God and Eleven Minutes.

Orsayor: Who is your favorite author and why?
Dean: J.D. Salinger and Douglas Coupland are my favorite writers. They have the ability to turn questions about human nature into great fiction.

Orsayor: If I came to your home and looked in your refrigerator what would I find?
Dean: Wine, Coke, chicken, milk because I love to eat cereal.
Orsayor: What famous person do other people tell you that you most resemble?

Dean: I don’t recall anyone telling me that I look like anyone famous so I guess that makes me unique…lol.

Orsayor: Choose a book title for the story of your life.

Dean: “Just Getting Started”

Orsayor: What is the one thing about yourself that others would be shocked to know?

Dean: I’m a pretty reserved guy and I would take a chick flick over an action movie.

Orsayor: What three artists would I find in your IPod or CD player?

Dean: Michael Jackson (always), Jill Scott and Jay-Z and anything that’s 70’s Soft Rock.

Orsayor: What are your current projects?

Dean: I’m finishing up my spoken word erotica CD, Aural Sex: Excerpts from The Pussy Whispers which will be available on August 2nd. Another collection of erotica shorts called “Moist” for later in the year. 2012, it could be anything from poetry, erotica or fiction. The mind is always moist with thought.

Born in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, to Marcel and Martha Jéan-Pierre and his "second mother" Ann-Marie Jéan-Pierre, Dean Jéan-Pierre is the eldest of two children. He has a younger brother named Denny.
At age nine, the death of Mr. Jéan-Pierre's father made him look for a place of sanctuary. That place was found in his imagination, the world of books and the Frederiksted (V.I.) Public Library, where he was usually the first reader of the new Beverly Cleary, Hardy Boys or Encyclopedia Brown books.
"When your passion speaks to your heart, resisting is not an option..."
A gifted writer and storyteller, Mr. Jéan-Pierre stimulates the inner passions of his readers with a mixture of sensually erotic short stories and prose which is skillfully written to feed not only the body but also the mind. He believes that the mind is an underused sexual organ that, once stimulated, can be just as potent as the body. There is an intimate tenderness that he brings in his character portrayals not often expressed by men. Mr. Jéan-Pierre is able to express the vulnerabilities of the human physique when love and passion meet in the place of the heart. He brings a fresh new outlook and perspective on relationships from all gender perspectives in several urban markets.
Mr. Jéan-Pierre's first collection, "The Pussy Whispers," is a sensual erotic compilation of short stories written by a master to seduce his readers into his world with deep verbal penetrations. It will leave them craving for more of his cerebral erotica. Independently well-versed and traveled, Mr. Jéan-Pierre currently resides in Maryland.
