Review:

The Curto Family has created a fantastic book for the Christmas Holiday. I really enjoyed reading this book with my 7-year-old. He was able to connect with Alfred’s feeling as we were reading the book together – which lead to a wonderful conversation. I also loved the eye-popping illustrations in the book. My Christmas Trees comes in a box, so it was extra special learning about Christmas tree farms.
Side Note: One of my favorite things about reading Children books are a Solid Storyline & Beautiful illustrations.

I recommend this book for all ages.

Can I be....FRANK! - Rickey Teems II

When local karaoke legend, Franklin Lee, loses everything, he quickly learns it’s going to take more than following the lyrics on a screen to bring harmony back into his life. But an unfiltered tongue, outdated style, and an overpowering addiction, sit on his shoulder whispering sweet temptations in his ear like a miniature devil. But when he meets an angelic songbird that revitalizes his inner spirit, Frank will have to fight off the familiar if he wants to uncover and explore his buried faith. He will quickly realize that who we are and who we want to be can put us in the fight for our life, and he is left pondering: Can I be Frank! – Amazon

Where do I begin?

Can I be….Frank!

Franklin Lee sets the stage on fire when he performs his weekly routine at the local karaoke bar in his town, but behind the shining stage lights his life a hot mess. Franklin goes through what I love to call the “Tower Effect”.  The “Tower Effect” is when Life as you know it changes dramatically before your eyes, and the only thing you can do is ride out the waves. The important lesson of going through the “Tower Effect” is having Faith in GOD – and knowing that before the NEW can shine – the OLD has to die.

Can I be… Frank! is a well written, thought-provoking, and powerful novella that will definitely have you wanting more. Rickey Teems II is an immensely talented Author that’s never afraid to tackle the tough hitting topics. His words always connect with me on a personal, emotional, and spiritual level.

The characters in this novella were memorable – Rita, Frank’s soon-to-be ex-wife, who feels this is her time to find what she’s been messing, but she gets more than she bargained for. Adam & Ava, a married couple who tends to conveniently forget their marriage vows when “new opportunities” come their way.

In true Rickey Teems style this story has its moments of humor especially when it came to describing Franklin Lee.

“Frank had worn the same misshapen mini-afro since the early eighties after he finally let the juice out of his jheri curl………. Adam had believed they stopped making corduroys decades ago, but Frank had consistently proven him wrong.”

I really enjoyed reading this novella. Can I be… Frank!!! – Buy this novella!!! Readers, If you don’t know who Rickey Teems II is – I think it’s time you found out.

The Christmas Witchling - D. Byron Patterson

Since before the Dark Ages, the mysterious Witches of Evernight Mountain have rid the world of evil spirits to prepare for the Christmas season. Having performed this sacred duty every year without fail for a millennium, why would the 1000th Anniversary All Hallows Eve Jubilee be any different? When toymaking Elves suddenly move into the valley below the dark mountain, Witch and Elf alike begin to realize that nothing at the North Pole is what it seems. Still, it takes the courage of an eight-year-old Witchling named Tulalulalen Flue to set things right when everything goes wrong. Not only does she change the lives around her -- she changes the world. - Amazon

The Christmas Witchling is a heartwarming Christmas story that’s sure to entertain & educate children of all ages.  This book tells the story of Tulalulalen “Tulie” Flue, who is different from the witches her age.
D. Byron Patterson does an exceptional job of capturing the emotions felt by Tulie, who is bullied by her classmates & brothers because she has an abnormal color skin, unable to use her magic right, and cannot seem to get the hang of flying her broom correctly. When a magical event happens she learns that everyone is special & beautiful in their own skin.
I would definitely recommend this book.

Blog Tour: Guilty Pleasures - Pynk

Chapter excerpt – POLITICS.ESCORTS.BLACKMAIL. by Pynk

Midori’s trip the previous weekend with the Long Island doctor to the Florida Keys was spectacular. She wasn’t even mad at her sister for assigning the booking to her. Turns out the client wanted the GFE, or girlfriend experience, as opposed to what most of the men who paid for her services wanted—the PSE, or porn star experience. The PSE was usually freakier and definitely more expensive because it involved sex that was more hardcore.

The Long Island doctor, a.k.a. Mr. 81, who was in his fifties, paid top dollar for someone to simply be the girl next door, doing what some girlfriends do. Be his willing, feminine, sexy trophy. No drama allowed.

For a moment, while with him, Midori had actually forgotten she was a working girl and fell victim to the allure of the imaginary romance he was trying to portray for his own reasons. No one on the Florida Keys island knew who he was, unlike in the city, where he was often recognized. The two of them were incognito, holding hands, pretending to be a couple though having just met. While she fulfilled his fantasy, she felt cherished and got lost along the white sugar sand beaches with spiraling coconut palm trees, under powder-blue skies in mid-eighty-degree weather. He fulfilled her heart’s fantasy without even knowing it.

The first evening was like a true date. They met at the restaurant called Shor. After dinner, he walked her to her own two-bedroom suite, and he went to his. They exchanged nothing more than a good-night peck on the lips.

The next day after breakfast, he took her shopping at the local boutiques and bought her formal evening wear, a sapphire bustier with a matching thong, skimpy lingerie, and a tangerine bikini. They went parasailing and scuba diving on the private beach. That evening they enjoyed a cozy dinner cruise at sunset and danced the night away like newlyweds.

Later, in his hotel suite, after sipping expensive champagne and feeding each other chocolate-dipped strawberries, she allowed him to live out his desires: French kissing, expert cunnilingus, her riding him until she had an orgasm, or three, and then him mounting her until he got his, all to the sounds of smooth, baby-making jazz. Then, after about an hour’s worth of pillow talk, she went to her hotel room, floating on cloud nine.

He was the head of thoracic surgery at the University Hospital of Brooklyn, and if Taye Diggs had an older brother, he would be it. He had dark skin, white teeth, a bald head, and he

was sexy but he acted like he didn’t know it. He was a leading, esteemed surgeon who mended hearts for a living. But it became obvious to Midori that he was trying to survive after having his heart broken.

After the throes of deep sex, while holding "Brooklyn," her escort name, in his arms, he shared with her: "My wife is cheating on me. I don’t want to give her half, since we didn’t sign a prenup. After twenty-two years, we’re in a sexless marriage. It all comes down to the fact that it’s cheaper to keep her. So instead of having a chick on the side who wants more, I hire an escort every now and then. But I’m never with the same girl twice."

Midori gave a smile but frowned inside. In her mind she snapped her fingers, Damn.

The final day they rented scooters to get in some last-minute sightseeing, had lunch, then simply checked out of the hotel and headed off to the airport in separate town cars like it was all a dream. They never even spent one night together.

Trusting The Law - Kendall Evans

Trusting the Law is a short historical/romance novel that takes place during the tough times of the Prohibition Era. Grace is not your typical, by the book kind of gal. She works for Marshall Fields during the day and runs a speak-easy by night, and she does all of this just to pay the insurmountable medical bills for her ailing uncle, that raised her after her parents died. Grace unexpectedly meets Paul, a local Chicago police officer that turns her world upside down. Grace seems to be very much ahead of her times in my opinion.

From the very start I was instantly drawn to her character, because she has this sassy never back down attitude, and does what she has to do to take care of the ones she loves. (I think we all have been in that boat at one time or another in our lives) This novel for the most part seems to keep with the time period from what I know of it. I had no problem understanding the story line or the choices the characters made it very realistic.

This story has an emotional turning point at the end and really tugs at your heart strings. I liked the main characters for the most part and the plot was very good in my opinion, the only complaint I would say I had, was that it wasn't nearly long enough.

I would recommend it to anyone that's looking for something new to read, in a short time frame.
