The Realms of Animar - Owen Black

This was an excellent book. Author Owen Black captured my attention from the beginning.  Although I had never read a book like this before, I was intrigued with the idea of people morphing into different animals.  From the beginning, it was obvious that there were others trying to dispose of the resettled nation.  There were various story lines displayed:  a love story, greed, jealousy, power plays, betrayal, war, and death.
This book was an easy read and I was eager to find out what happened to the different characters. Author Black did a superb job in keeping the book interesting and moving.  I look forward to reading more books from this author.   I will definitely be recommending this book to others.

Lovely Blues - Adrienne Thompson

The beloved blues singer, Bobbie Brooks from Adrienne Thompson’s best-selling book, Bluesday is back. When we last checked in with Bobbie and her new husband, Reggie Darrough they were trying to get pregnant.  In Lovely Blues, Bobbie & Reggie are still dealing with up & downs of trying to get pregnant, but when tragedy strikes; they are faced to deal with some things and people from their  past. Is Love enough to get them through it all?

After reading Bluesday, I fell in love with the characters especially Reggie, so I was nervous about reading this sequel. I finished this book with a smile on my face. It was very nice to see the growth of the characters. This story flowed effortlessly; I finished the book in a matter of hours.  Adrienne Thompson does an excellent job drawing readers into the emotions of every character involved in this book.

As a music lover, I love how the author incorporates music in with the titles of each chapter. I actually listen to each song before reading the chapter or sometimes while reading the chapter to capture the scenery and emotions of the characters.
I highly recommend this book.

A Hustler's Promise 2 - Jackie Chanel

Jackie Chanel’s, A Hustler’s Promise 2, is the sequel to the highly recommended novel A Hustler’s Promise. Characters Jaicyn and Rayshawn pick up their lives and take Atlanta by storm as the Prince and Princess of the drug game.  The power couple has to decide how to keep one another happy, their family together and trouble from exploding in their faces, all the while maintaining a universal front. This duo is attacked with blinding forces trying to sever the promise’s they made to one another, wondering if their love will withstand the turmoil in the end.
I absolutely LOVED both of the books.  Ideally, I am not a fan of sequels considering my expectations are usually traumatized when the storyline lets me down, however, Chanel made me a believer that sequels can do the original justice.  I laughed, I cringed, and I even spoke out loud while reading this book. I used every emotion available, being mesmerized and captivated by the author’s style of writing.  The only flaws I can honestly pinpoint were some misspelled words, but even that didn’t deter me from this page turner.

Overall, I rate the book a 4 for being outstanding.  I love a good urban tale and it’s even better when I can relate to the storyline.  This was truly a great piece of work, and although I am a huge fan of the book, I hope there isn’t a 3rd.  I loved the way the author ended this book and I believe that she did the characters justice by doing it this way.  I definitely would recommend these novels to anyone that is a fan of great writing and I look forward to checking out any other work by Chanel.
