The illustrations in this book are vivid, creative, and beautiful. Bill Plympton's art work breathes life into Kanye West lyrics. Included in this book are lyrics and a brief summary of Kanye's music. I wished it included an in-depth detail meaning of each song, but sometimes the smallest thing can inspire us to do great things.

I'm a big Samuel Jackson fan, so when I heard he was narrating a bedtime story named Go The F**k To Sleep I knew I had to read it. I listened to the Audible version since it was offered free to members. I can't say I fell out of my seat laughing, but I was amused. I would say this is a bedtime story for adults, because I don't know many parents that will tell their kids out loud to GO THE F**K TO SLEEP.
Side Note: Even though I know alot of parents may have those thoughts in their head.

I was first introduced to Max Lucado when I was working in a factory. My former co-worker always had a Max Lucado devotional book in her hand... so that peaked my interest. Our last day of working (temp job) - she gave me a book called When Christ Comes by Max Lucado. I been reading his books since that day.
Max On Life - Mr. Lucado takes the time to answers letters he has received over the years. He gives the reader insight on many problems they may be dealing with in their lives. I think it is a great book to have in your collection. Sometimes life problems can send us scrambling for answers... Max Lucado shows us GOD words are all the COMFORT we need.

Russel Blake writes an encouraging book detailing how he believes a woman should be treated. The book covers a multitude of topics; such as Quiet Strength, Black Woman Rising, Fellowship and more that are sure to touch The Virtuous Black Woman’s heart and mind.
I enjoy reading books that encourage Women. The message the author is trying to convey is powerful and uplifting, but the delivery of that message is flat.
Some parts of the book read as a bad love letter from a man trying to get out of the doghouse with his wife or girlfriend. An example: Page 66 – “Because of you the greatest love songs that were created were made; From The Song of Solomon to his Queen Makeda of Sheba; To Luther Vandross’s – Here and Now.” - REALLY!!
Overall, however the book does, to some degree offer guidance in the mysterious world of relationships. It would be recommended for young males, 16-24, who have just begun to discover the existence of the virtuous black woman. It’s also not a bad refresher course for older black men who sometimes forget the treasures they have and desire to keep. 3 Stars

I remember spending the night over my cousin's house, and before we went to bed she started reciting this prayer.
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, If I shall die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.
She tried to teach it to me, but I refused to learn it. I didn't want to die in my sleep, so I seen no reason to recite that prayer. She explained to me that we had no control over what happens to us in life, but we can make sure GOD will take care of us no matter what. That night I went to bed reciting my own prayer to GOD. To this day that prayer atill speak volumes to me, but now that I'm 37 it holds a different meaning to me. I understand that prayer is saying... I put my FAITH in GOD with no reservations!
In the short story If I Should Die Before I Wake, Pat Simmons shares a very personal incident that occurred in her life. This story will tug at your heartstrings. It will also remind you to always keep the faith no matter what happens in your life. Cherish everyday because tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
Pat Simmons shows why she is added constatly to avid readers top 10 authors list. Even with a short story this author is able to convey her message of Love, Family, and most of all FAITH and make a connection to her readers. I know alot of readers will experience an AHA Moment after reading this.

As I was scanning my Facebook page.. this book cover caught my eye.. for obvious reasons.. (smile). I decided to read the synopsis and it sounded like a good read. I have to admit I was a little reluctant to download this selection, because I have recently read some short stories that left me irritated. I'm glad I let my fingers do the clicking on Amazon.
While on tour, Tyson Austin, a well-known author meets a mysterious woman named Nadine. Nadine has Tyson on her radar, and she will do and say anything to get him. Will Tyson get trapped in Nadine's tangled web?
I love how Mr. Sewell uses his words to describe the characters and the settings of this story. The attraction between Tyson and Nadine jumped off the pages of this book. The author makes his readers feel as though they are watching a movie, and trust me you wouldn't want to leave for popcorn.
I definitely will be reading more of The Legs Wide Open Series..
