A first lady herself, Tai's husband, King, is pastor of Mount Zion Progressive Baptist Church. But with two affairs under his belt, Tai wonders just what "progressive" means. In fact, she strongly suspects her husband is at it again. Now she can follow her mother-in-law's example and threaten to shoot any would-be-husband-stealing floozies, or she can take Vivian's advice and listen for God's instruction. But Tai's husband isn't the only one fighting temptation.
Whether trying to wait until marriage or just waiting until the next mating opportunity, these congregations are filled with members whose eyes are on more than Jesus! The result is a page-turning read, not soon to be forgotten.
Lutishia Lovely burst on to the scene with Sex In The Sanctuary, a novel that crosses genres and shakes up comfort zones. Billed as the book “where sex and spirituality collide,” the year of its release SITSpositioned Lutishia as a Debut Author Finalist at the Southeastern Arts Association’s Literary Awards. The novel was a bestseller on Amazon, Black Expressions and other internet sites and the subsequent books in this ongoing series: Love Like Hallelujah, A Preacher’s Passion, Heaven Right Here, Reverend Feelgood and Heaven Forbid, have enjoyed tremendous success as well, and have made her a popular guest with book clubs, magazines and radio stations.
Along with being a full-time writer, Lutishia is an actor and former radio personality. In her ten years spent in broadcast journalism, she interviewed a range of diverse personalities: from Jesse Jackson to Minister Farakhan, Vivica Fox to Richard Pryor and Stevie Wonder to Ruby Dee. Her popular radio talk show, the What’s On Your Mind Line, and noteworthy theatrical performances (including George Wolfe’s critically acclaimed Colored Museum and the woman in blue in Ntosake Shange’s For Colored Girls) stirred up the Midwestern airwaves and made her the recipient of several awards and commendations, including the United Minority Media Association’s Actress of the Year.
Thankful to be living her dream, Lutishia is also humbled to be the voice for so many who feel silenced. From molestation, homosexuality and infidelity in ministry to her latest series, The Business, that examines the dynamics of dysfunction among family and society, she approaches each topic with compassion and unconditional love—offering a safe place for those who’ve experienced such challenges to come forward and be “seen,” and also encouraging dialogue along with the space for healing and understanding. “You’re the only you that we will ever see,” she says, in celebration of individual uniqueness. “To thine own self be true or, in other words…do you.”
Lutishia’s latest offering, the Business Trilogy, has received bestselling success. Comprised of All Up In My Business, Mind Your Own Business, and Taking Care Of Business, fans have embraced the Livingston family just as enthusiastically as they embraced the first series, Hallelujah Love. She also keeps close tabs on her alter-ego, Zuri Day, who whips up sizzling romances for the lover in us all and is busy with more church dramas, and a brand new trilogy! When not writing, Lutishia indulges in her other loves: sports, cooking, international travel, and entertaining family and friends in southern California.
