Review: I DECLARE - Joel Osteen

It was only right that I end Book Referees - 31 Authors – 31 Books – 31 Reviews with Joel Osteen’s I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life.

Remember what Proverbs 18:21 says…

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

So why not declare the life GOD intends you to have. I Declare gives readers 31 Devotions that focuses on the promises GOD has for us. This is a very positive, encouraging, and inspirational book. We always encounter things that set our blood pressure over the limit mark, but we have to remember to lay our burdens on THE LORD.
You can use the book as a monthly devotion – or read it straight through with your highlighter. Don't worry about this book getting dusty on your shelf, because you can reread it and still learn new things.

I highly recommend this book.

Review: A Funny Thing Happened On My Way To The Future - Michael J. Fox

Michael J. Fox abandoned high school to pursue an acting career, but went on to receive honorary degrees from several universities and garner the highest accolades for his acting, as well as for his writing. In his new book, he inspires and motivates graduates to recognize opportunities, maximize their abilities, and roll with the punches--all with his trademark optimism, warmth, and humor.

REVIEW

I have read book from Michael J. Fox and loved every minute of it. So when I seen this book at my local bookstore - I was curious to read it. I know the book is targeted to college graduates, but I feel everyone can gain a little insight from it.
Michael J. Fox gives readers short anecdotes about his life journey. From high-school drop-out, starving artist (and I do mean starving), to Hollywood Actor. He even shares a little about his life with Parkinson’s disease.
This book was short & sweet – straight to the point. If you are looking for something quick to read – grab this book and enjoy. I read this book in less than an hour.

Review: Ring In The Dead - J.A. Jance

REVIEW

This was the first time I have read anything by this author and I wasn't disappointed in the least. The story starts off slow, but picks up the pace and grabs your attention. I usually don't get into the mystery/crime books, but I have to say I really enjoyed this one.

REVIEW

What would you do to tame the love you want?  Octavia Ellis has taken the “just say no” approach to love. As a child, she witnessed the ill impact love had on her mother. Therefore, she decides that love is not her thing.
Octavia builds notches on her bedpost with little regret. Her best friend and family members dysfunctional relationships, only further cement her love philosophy. However, a pitcher enters the game to change her lifestyle.
A smooth brother, Damon Whitmore, enters the scene. His eyes are set on Octavia. However, Octavia has a lot on her plate.  Her best friend is distraught. Her parents are off the hook.  Her business is having bizarre problems. Plus, she has this little problem of getting her crazy jump off under control.  She feels that she has no other choice but to turn to her knight in shining honor. However, the man she trusts has deception stamped in his DNA.

What We Won't Do for Love will have your Jaw dropping at the last page?

REVIEW

The story was just so-so for me. It started off excruciatingly slow in the beginning but only picked up a little at the end. Sophia and Zane's characters were too childish for my liking. That was a put off for me, the only redeeming quality of the book was that there was a murder-mystery twist that I liked. Other than that, it just wasn't that good.
